HIRING: Community Relationship Intern — Summer 2023

 

 

Italian Community Services is seeking a driven & motivated intern with a love for the Italian Community. This position is for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment and who are excited about the opportunity to bring a 100+ year old nonprofit who has adopted to the needs of the Italian Community into the modern world. 

 

The Community Relationship Intern will be responsible for organizing and digitizing client records. With this data, the intern will conduct research on each client in order for the Italian Community Services team to best assess the community needs of today. The ideal candidate will have experience in data collection and research, and will be extremely organized, well-spoken when communicating digitally, with a genuine interest in Italian heritage and history. 

 

Assist the Italian Community Services team in producing community events and client activities, strengthening relationships between ICS and their key stakeholders, including volunteers, donors, vendors, other Italian groups, and the clients served. 

 

This role is in-person at our office, located at 678 Green Street in San Francisco. The number of hours the intern is expected to work each week is flexible but is expected to be between 10 and 20 hours per week. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Community Relationship Manager with data management and analysis needs, including leveraging existing tools (Network for Good, Charity Tracker) as well as creating new views of data to help provide more visibility for trends, growth, etc. 
  • Identify opportunities for growth or change within the current data management tools for clients, donors, and volunteers 
  • Assist the ICS team in producing community events and client activities 
  • Help organize, package, and sort through paper client files for digitization 
  • Organize and maintain a digitized system for clients 
  • Provide clerical support as needed 

 

Expected Outcomes: 

  • Create, organize, and analyze client records and reports for a more focused and organized digital transformation of 100+ years of records. 
  • Strengthening relationships between ICS and their key stakeholders, including volunteers, donors, vendors, other Italian groups, and the clients served. 

 

Learning Objectives & Goals: 

  • Deeper knowledge of best tools and practices for nonprofit data management 
  • Leverage data to provide insights that lead to positive action and intervention 
  • Greater awareness of the importance of community relationships to strengthen donor engagement, client retention, and volunteer coordination / participation 
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of case management, nonprofit management, and community building 
  • First-hand exposure to leveraging best practices for social good 

  

General Expectations: 

  • Weekly 1:1 with supervisor to create agenda and track progress 
  • Daily slack and email communication during the work week 
  • Communicate confirmation of new assignments and projects, as well as meeting invites 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Must be actively and presently enrolled in an accredited college or university at an undergraduate or graduate level. 
  • Experience and/or strong interest in Nonprofit, Volunteer, Social Impact, Philanthropic, CSR related fields 
  • Experience/and or strong interest in Italian / Italian American Heritage is a plus 
  • Familiarity with global technology trends, specifically cloud-based tech and data management 

 

Knowledge: 

  • Social networking and non-profit knowledge preferred. 
  • Tech tools and trends knowledge preferably in a global context. 

 

Skills: 

  • Microsoft Office/G Suite 
  • Comfortable and proficient with basic and intermediate data analysis
  • Diplomacy and teamwork 
  • Ownership and accountability 
  • Volunteer experience preferred

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
