We had the pleasure of hearing our very own Steve Leveroni, Board President of Italian Community Services, share the story and heart of the Italian community in North Beach.
The piece explores the neighborhood’s Italian roots, from the first Ligurian and Sicilian immigrants to today, where North Beach remains a special place to celebrate traditions, food, and family.
Despite changes in the neighborhood, the Italian spirit still lives on in our churches, historic bakeries, restaurants, and cultural events like the Italian Heritage Parade. We also loved seeing the SF Little Italy Honor Walk (SFLIHW) highlighted in this piece—a wonderful way to honor our heritage! ❤️
Steve reminds us that even though many descendants have moved away, North Beach remains the beating heart of our Italian community.

L’articolo esplora le radici italiane del quartiere, dai primi immigrati liguri e siciliani fino ad oggi, dove North Beach resta un luogo speciale per celebrare tradizioni, cibo e famiglia.
Nonostante i cambiamenti nel quartiere, lo spirito italiano vive ancora nelle nostre chiese, nelle panetterie storiche, nei ristoranti e negli eventi culturali come la Italian Heritage Parade.
